Nicola Carrino

(Taranto, 1932 )

Nicola Carrino lives and works in Rome. He has been a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts until 1992 and is a member of the National Academy of San Luca. He exhibits since 1952 and his first solo exhibition took place in 1958. Until 1962 he uses painting style going from Realism to Informal. From 1962 to 1967 he is part of the Group 1 in Rome, conducting research on plastic-construction. In 1969, he realizes the Costruttivi Trasformabili, modular sculptures in iron and steel, and he realizes the so calledIntervention of Transformation in art galleries and urban space. Since 1967, Carrino designs and creates sculptures and environmental resolutions in relation to the urban space, the landscape and within public buildings. In 2002, he curates for the National Academy of San Luca the International Conference "The synthesis of the arts today."
