In the exhibition “MAKING ONE from Word to Sign a Possible Dialogue,” a selection of works by artists who spanned the second half of the 20th century from Carla Accardi to Tomaso Binga, from Mirella Bentivoglio and Simona Weller to Vincenzo Agnetti, from Alighiero Boetti to Jannis Kounellis
and Gino Marotta, highlights a type of common feeling in the sphere of the artistic research that characterized the 1960s and 1970s and at the same
time – at a historical moment of great attention and rediscovery of female art – raises the question of a comparison between the “two halves of the avant-garde.” The reference to the Lacanian assumption of the”(im)possibility of making ONE” thus accompanies such reflection through a multi-voice dialogue in which the which protagonist is the WORD as the foundation of the image “in which the being will recognize itself and through which it will recognize others.”
